Shimmering and Glimmering
This week was one of the most intense and stressful weeks of my entire life. One of those weeks where God was really stretching me. The last 7 months have been mostly spiritual stretching, but each wave has opened me up to new light. I did a recent live and shared about how challenges bring out character. This week pushed me to do just that. I had to make tough decisions with few resources. It required being willing to ask questions, be wrong, revise and repeat multiple times. A few nights I was so exhausted I pretty much just went straight to bed after my son fell asleep. Through a lot of prayer, praise music and one baby step in front of the other, I chose to just shimmer forward.
Life is a dance. Some dances are waltzes with another partner. Some are adagios alone and some have you leaping and turning with all of your might with a corps of dancers. There were moments in this week I thought I would crumble due to the amount of tears, but then there were so many glimmers that I remained in hope. God’s plan continues to surprise me as I walk more with Him and lean on Him daily. He unraveled something I never expected and in the middle of the biggest struggles, I found myself dancing with joy as each glimmer revealed itself.
And don’t worry, I took pictures all along the way. So much of the photography I do never makes it to the feed, but in the middle of some of the toughest stages of life it has revealed a way for me to be more mindful. Snaps of tiny yellow flowers that others might call weeds. A patina green stain on a weather peach building. The way the light illuminates the veins in glossy leaves. All of these little still frames add up and my day oftentimes looks a lot like a cinematic movie when I thumb through my camera roll.
I encourage you if you haven’t already - sign up to read my Sunday Letter. It comes out every week and shares more shimmers and glimmers as I slow live in this fast paced world. Maybe you will find a joy you didn’t realize you could feel before. Maybe it will inspire you to see something in your everyday life you would have otherwise walked past. For those who love faith, style and travel - this little letter offers inspiration from my own heart, written just for you. Oh- and this blog doesn’t use AI for it’s copy. Instead, it comes with the occasional grammatical error and a perspective that AI just can replicate. (wink!)
