Measuring Data to Increase Traffic if You’re a Beginner

So you’ve created a blog, social media accounts and are using hashtags. Now what? Well, now it’s time to start focusing on data metrics so you can increase your traffic. Just like in other industries, the keys to selling anything (products, services, ideas, etc.) is to have enough people experience and know your audience.  You’ll need to start utilizing the analytical tools found in each platform. I’m going to break these down for you guys so you can create a foundation baseline for your metrics. Once you understand the numbers, you can repeat what works best.

Tools

You have a few options here. You can use the tools within the business functions for your blog and social media accounts and/or invest a little cash to utilize 3rd party software programs to do some of the guesswork for you. I would highly recommend to upgrade and establish a marketing budget for your blog. A few of the programs I recommend (and you don’t need to do it ALL at once - more about that later) include:

  • Iconosquare - $30/month for basic but allows you to analyze your best performing posts on Instagram and Facebook. You’ll be able to

  • Squarespace or Wordpress and Domain - If you have not purchased your own domain and a professional website platform now is the time to do so. Squarespace has modern templates and a ton of functionality. It also comes with awesome analytical tools that are graphic. Wordpress is an open-source platform and is the most popular due to being able to apply 3rd party templates or custom coding.
