Nude // Black
Dress: LC Lauren Conrad. Shoes: Nine West. Jacket: Old. Clutch: Big Buddha.
I thought I would share another look for Valentine's Day. If you are looking for some romance, you can't go wrong with a little nude and black number like this one. The lace details, full skirt and whimsical shape is perfect for a romantic night out. I decided to throw a leather jacket on over this sweet little number. If you purchase a real leather jacket look for something that has a classic feel. That way you will wear it over the years instead of buying something trendy for a single season. Leather goods and quality jewelry are always something I look to purchase with a timeless feel.
Speaking of timeless, the color combo I am wearing today is perfect for a classic look. Lace always adds a demure feel to an outfit, and the tulle skirt keeps the dress looking youthful. There is a girly elegance to this outfit. I decided since the ensemble was date worthy to add a pair of strappy sandals (like these or these). Lately, I've been wearing several neutrals over and over like cream, black, navy, camel, nude and blush.
Don't get me wrong, I sure love a pop of yellow from time to time, but as I enter my 30's I'm really trying to define "my style." I'm going to be building more and more of my closet around these basics. I'll always throw in some fun colors like cobalt or mint, but the majority of what I add going further is going to stay in the color scheme I just listed.
It's easier to be organized when you have pieces that work well together instead of lots of different pieces. Find a color scheme or two you really like, then buy in those schemes. If you aren't really sure where to start, begin by taking an inventory. You can easily photograph the items of your closet and then sort in folders or on Pinterest. Use technology to help, once you decide what you want to keep (be ruthless here), then decide what you need.
