Beauty Updates: Spring Makeup

Top: LC Lauren Conrad

As my color palette is getting a little brighter and the seasons are changing, I also recently updated my makeup palette with a brighter orange lip, bronzer and golden hues on my eye lids. Today's post is a short tutorial on how to update your makeup for a fresh new spring look. I love changing up my makeup routine, but not going so over the top that I feel like it's not me. Trying a new lipcolor or simply a different way to use eyeliner can make a big difference.

I started by layering a soft creamy gold as the base and add espresso in the crease. I am using City Color's Eyeshadow trio and applying it with my favorite Younique eyeshadow brush. If you want to further enhance or wear it for an evening look you can add a little water to an angled brush, dip it into the espresso and then line the upper lash line.

Now I start on my lashes. I like to use three layers to give better volume and depth. I start with They're Real as a lash primer. I do a single coat and then add an older mascara (right now that's Lash Domination). The older mascara allows the newer, wetter mascara to stick better. I finish them off with a coat of Lash Sensational. It's really a great formula for sensitive eyes and under $10.

Lately, I've been wearing more bronzer than blush and BareMinerals makes my all time favorite bronzer. I am using the Large/Angled brush by Luxie to apply right under my cheek bones to give my face a little depth. Since I chose a bolder lip color, I try to keep my eyes and cheeks in a more natural setting so I don't have beauty pageant face.

The finishing touch is actually an orange color for my lip. Orange-red is a great choice for the warmer months. I find it's a little softer than a cherry red and goes nicely with pale pink or contrasts with a baby blue outfit. During the Winter months I like to wear a deeper burgundy or bold bright red, but for Spring - I keep it a little peachier since my color palette for my wardrobe changes. I finished by using my new curling wand for my hair to give my curls a slightly polished look.
