Finding Favor

Rockport, Texas

I’ve been studying the concept of God’s favor lately and how that plays out in our modern-day life. God’s favor on a person’s life does not mean that person no longer has trials or tribulations. It doesn’t mean things will come easily. It means that as you walk through life, your alignment with the Lord gives you his grace, provision, and strength to get through tough situations. It is not by our own strength that we can overcome things, but by drawing on the Lord’s wisdom, truth and worshipping him in spirit, we can do things far beyond our own capacity.

As a single mother, I can say it is exceptionally challenging to work while also being fully present. But I am refilled with strength each night as I hand my heavy burdens like finances and fatigue over to God. Day by day, I have been moving forward, and each day I continue to receive more wisdom. You see, the Lord assigned this little toddler, teenager, and business to me - as long as I continue to live in his word, stay close, pray, and follow His ways - He will provide. It may not make sense to me, but His ways are higher than my own.

As a steward of what He’s entrusted me with, it’s my role to focus on stewarding my home, my kids, and my work with guidance from Him. It’s not my job to try to control what only He can unfold in His timing. I would say that out of all of the challenges I have faced in life, being able to let the Lord guide my life instead of me trying to steer the ship has required a total and complete surrender. But His whisper is there, and I am here to listen. If you are in this same place where you just aren’t sure what’s going to happen next in your life, I get it. Remember Kind David talks about having to walk through the valley of the shadow of death, and there is God comforting him and guiding him. Same to us. We have a comforter and a guide to walk us through the times when we can’t see ahead.

Just know that there is no challenge that is too hard for your God to help you through. He will be there to help you while He stretches you, provides what you need, loves you through it, and brings you to the other side. This is how faith and your relationship with God deepen. If you are going through a really tough period, check out this book I wrote called Missed and Restored. It’s a story about how the Lord took me through a very dark period while transforming my heart and showing me His glory. It’s a story of raw renewal and how I was comforted as I experienced a loss in my life. As for this week, I hope you walk forward with grace and hope as you face your own challenges and remember - Jesus loves you.
