Leopard // Latte // Lipstick
I've been all about leopard over the past couple of weeks. Being that we really don't get a true Fall here in Texas until about November, I have to be pretty creative in incorporating more "fall-like" items to my closet. If you notice, short sleeve sweater (or sweater dresses), scarves, loafers and plaid prints are at the top of my list. Today was no exception. It was still in the 80's when I wore this dress, but because the sweater is made of natural cotton - I was able to look more like Fall, without feeling like I was sweating.
A few items I've been really loving for this season are loafers (seen here and here), sweaters, stripes and scarves. In the past, I've loved to accessorize with jewelry, but lately it's been more about adding new accessories. Glasses, details on shoes and bags, or scarves. I either try to tie one around my neck or add one to a simple jeans/blazer look for some drama. It's such an easy way to add interest to your outfits. Plus, bigger scarves can turn into shawls instead of wearing a cardigan if you get cold. They also make great travel items - just tuck into your bag.
Another thing that really changes with the seasons for me is the makeup I wear. I try to go more sunkissed in the summer by using bronzer, a shimmery eye and nude or pink lips. However, as the leaves start to change so does my beauty routine. Lately, I've added a cat-eye with liquid liner and heavy lashes. Another way I've switched it up is a darker nail or lip. I love a gel manicure. I do my own using Sally Hansen's Sensational kit - if you follow me on Snapchat (heelclicksblog) you'll find that my manicure lasted 10 days. Usually, I'm pretty hard on my nails and a regular manicure lasts only two days. It takes a few tries to get the hang of it, but once you learn how to apply the coats - you'd be surprised how quick it is to do your own manicure! The kit gives you 10 applications for about $60. That's a $6 manicure! Pretty inexpensive and easy!
The last feature of this post is the concept of a good loafer. I love the look of loafers and wear them often instead of a pair of ballet flats. They are classic and these have the cutest tassels on them! They are one of the best items I've added to my closet and are great for work or play. I've found a few options in my shop the post below, but if you haven't added a pair, you really should consider it!
