Two Ways to Wear Riding Boots

Who doesn’t love a pair of good leather boots? This pair of vintage ones I picked up a few years ago at a random antique store in the mid-west have been a go to for me on the weekends lately. The deep walnut leather and suede combination seem to pair with some of my favorite pairs of pants. I thought I’d share a few ways to wear them with a twist on the classic denim and button combo that you usually see. Both outfits are in one of my favorite color palettes, navy and pale pink. Following my rule of three theory in dressing (two neutrals and a pop of color), this combination is fail proof. The pink softens the darkness of walnut and navy making it an unusual color scheme for Winter.
For the first outfit, I layered a simple navy and white gingham button up underneath a simple pink sweater. I really like this blush one I picked up from Who What Wear’s collection a few months ago. In fact, blush has been one of the most popular colors in my closet for quite some times (see this post and this post). Then, I pulled on my navy coated leggings that look like leather and are so comfortable. Finally, a leather tote finished the look and made it really easy for me to carry all of my Saturday shopping items from the farmer’s market home.
The second outfit is a little more formal. A good blazer can go from work to weekend if it’s cut properly. I recently posted about Buying a Blazer if you want a few tips, but I love them during the cooler months. You can still wear them under an over sized coat if it gets really chilly, or alone if it’s a little warmer. This look I wore lots of layers to include a tiered top, a simple plaid pink scarf and added pink jeans. When I first added pink jeans to my closet, I wondered if I would end up wearing them enough. Well, it was a pleasant surprise to find they were much easier than I expected to find ways to sport them around. The same tote was worn here, but I reversed it so it played off the walnut color.
