Holiday Style in the South

Being located in Texas means our holiday season doesn’t stay cold for very long. Our temperatures are ranging from 50’s to 80’s right now and so pulling out tons of Winter layers isn’t the most practical. As Christmas and the holidays are quickly approaching I like dressing in festive textures with sequins and sparkles and I love incorporating reds and greens during this time. Here are a few ways to incorporate more holiday styles into a southern wardrobe while the weather is still feeling like Spring and Summer.

Red Lipstick is the Perfect Pick Me Up

The first thing I reach for is a bolder lip. During the Summer months, I tend to stick with corals and warm pinks but as we approach the Christmas season I find myself reaching for the prettiest reds. You can grab this all day lasting matte lipstick in Sizzling that compliments almost every skin tone. It has a 24 hour wear and looks incredible all day. If you have chapped lips, I highly recommend exfoliating regularly to remove dead skin. Your lipstick will apply smoother and it helps your lips stay young and healthy. A classic red lip adds instant glam to any outfit! Go ahead and wear whether you are at home or out for a walk. Why not?

add bow embellishments

Whether it’s a handbag and heels like I’m wearing here or a bow embellished top - add bows! It’s a fun way to give your look a feminine feel without being over the top. From earrings and hair pins to tying a bow to a wrap top you can easily make an outfit feel instantly fun with this look! I shared a little about my love for hair pins in my last post here. These red bow earrings are ones I’m eyeing right now and think they’d be such a classic edition to my jewelry collection.

Reach for Holiday Prints

One of the things I look for when it’s getting close to Christmas includes holiday prints like plaid or stripes. You can wear sleeveless tops and dresses or short sleeves like this billowing dress with a ruffle hem. I grab lighter weight fabrics like a breathable cotton or linen for the warmer days and then layer a jacket or sweater during the cooler mornings and evenings. Whether you are spending the day at home or spending the day popping into local shops a pretty print serves as a pick-me-up to get you in the holiday mood.

I’m a fan of feeling and looking your best no matter what the conditions are. Whether you are staying cozy at home with friends and family or taking a day trip or car ride go ahead and get a little glam this year. I promise it will add a pep into your step!
