How to Open Your Throat Chakra

For many of us speaking up can be downright scary. Not sure if we have the right words when we need them the most. Thoughts swarming the head hoping that a difficult conversation won’t hurt the other person. Feeling like we have so much to share with others and not sure how to make it resonate. Self-depreciating thoughts of being irrelevant when we open up our hearts… Does this sound familiar to you? If so, there’s a way out of this mindset. Here is how I personally opened my throat chakra.

Start Small

Maybe it’s a caption on a social media post or throwing something in your stories. Maybe it’s just a single word that becomes a personal mantra. Maybe it’s humming to a song or something singing in the shower. Start small and just express yourself a little every day.

Sing

Yes, you heard me: sing. Even if you suck at singing. Put your favorite tunes on and just sing. Better yet, sing to your kiddos.

Set Aside Time

You can do anything for at least 15 minutes. Make the space and the words will follow in time. Begin a daily practice of having “throat chakra time.” If you write, write. If you sing, sing. If you are chatty, go live on social media. Set aside time to express yourself.

Grace

Give yourself grace as you work through opening your voice. Not every message is going to be received. Not every truth will be accepted. That’s okay. You don’t have time to worry about that… in the great words of Andy Warhol -

“Don't think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it's good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.“

When everyone is worried about systems, efficiency and algorithms you just need to write and speak and hum and sing. Your voice will find its way to the right ears.
