Two Holiday Beauty Looks

Today I wanted to share with you two holiday beauty looks. For most of the year I try to keep my makeup pretty simple. I am constantly on the go and with temperatures rising above 90 degrees with 100% humidity, I’ve simply given up on a heavy eye. For most days, I wear mascara, foundation, bronzer and a lipstick of that days choice. Sometimes, I go more bold – sometimes, I do something a little softer.

To start with, I’ve been obsessed over the past few months with using Bareminerals Foundation, Bronzer and Mineral Veil. Their products do not mess with my pores, and I’ve significantly notice a difference from when I used to use a liquid foundation. They also have a great blemish remedy and primer if you are looking to prep your skin. Their get started kit is about $50 and I’ve found that it lasts much longer than traditional foundation, powder and primer. The only thing out of the kit I’ve replace in the last few months was the mineral veil.

I also love the pigments from Younique. Today I used – insert color here and here. The lighter was dusted over the entire lid and I used the darker pigment in the crease. The nice thing about working with pigments is that they can be used wet or dry. For a slight cat eye effect, I dipped an angled brush into water first and then into some of the pigment I tapped loose into the lid. You’ll want to make sure you really get close to the lash lines, especially if you have blonde features. It will make your eyes pop more if you get closer. Also, I dotted a little bit on the outside of the bottom lid to enhance the look of my lashes.

About a month ago I finally purchased Neulash. If you haven’t looked into this product, I found it really worked for me. I started using it nightly and noticed within a few weeks my lashes were growing longer and getting thicker. It’s simple to apply, but makes your eyes really pop. Beware though, you will need more time to apply mascara. If you have a big holiday party scheduled for New Year’s – now is the time to get a bottle of it!

Speaking of mascara I usually wear Bareminerals Lash Domination, but for today’s look I went with Smashbox’s Full Exposure mascara. I love the definition I get from this mascara. The brush makes it easy to separate your lashes, but will take a minute or two for you to layer if you have longer lashes.

Finally, for the lip color I actually used two different ones for a different look in each photo below. On the left is Bobbi Brown’s in Uber Nude. It gave me a little deeper of a nude color for definition, but would pair nicely with anything in my closet. For the second look I went with NARS lip crayon in Cruella. I really love the look of this red. If you add a brighter red gloss over it the color has so much depth! I went for a more matte look and wore it alone. I’ve also done few videos on Younique’s lip products in similar colors – check out this one and this one! You can also shop for them here and here.

Lastly, I felt like since it was time for all things pretty and glamourous to do my hair in soft curls. I’ve been using my regular curling iron as a curling wand and it’s given a looser type of curl. A Little Dash of Darling’s blog is one of my go to blogs for all sorts of hair advice. If you’d like to see more tutorials, I’d recommend visiting Caitlin’s site. I’ve followed a few of them myself and her directions are really easy.
