Fancy Pants

Holiday parties are in full blast right now. Sequin pants are my new favorite holiday staple. The look great with a blazer, drapey top or with a sweater. I wore this outfit for a few daytime parties, and it's a great day to night outfit! The best part about the pants are that they are glorified sweatpants. They have an elastic waistband and lined in soft jersey.

Although I really love the color red - I wanted today's outfit to have a twist on traditional holiday colors. As we close the end of 2015, I thought it would be fun to wear Pantone's Color of the Year - Marsala. I particularly love the shade of this - not too red and not to maroon. It plays nicely against the rose gold hue of the pants.

I grabbed my favorite rose gold clutch and swiped a bold lip color on for added touches. These pants felt like glorified sweatpants. I plan on wearing them for Christmas Day with cozy socks and a comfy sweater. I love that these are so easy to dress up or dress down. Since I wore them to the office later that day, a looser top and neutral heels made it work appropriate.

I bought this coat last year from a vintage shop. At first, everyone chuckled since the temperatures are usually a little warmer in Houston. With last year's winter season bringing in some chilly winds, it proved to be worth the investment. Now I love to wear it over a dress when it's cold in the morning and shed it later in the day when the temperatures rise. The classic creamy color works day or night and over all color schemes.

As the days are getting closer and closer to Christmas, I've reflected on what I truly love. Family, friends and taking time to slow down in the middle of the holiday bustle makes the season more enjoyable. For gift giving, I try to pick things up along the way - whether I'm at a grocery store and I see some tasty teas for my sister, or I'm buying makeup and I find the perfect bath bombs, I keep others in mind throughout the months leading up to Christmas. I was once in a relationship where my other half liked waiting until the last minute - I found that to be so stressful. I'm not so much a last minute kind of gal. I like to think things through and really put a lot of effort into what I give.
