Houston Hotspots: Sugar & Cloth Color Wall

Dress: LC Lauren Conrad (similar here, tank top here) // Shoes: Carlos by Carlos Santana // Bag: Vintage // Sunnies: Jessica Simpson Collection // Hat: Academy (see here and here)

One of my favorite bloggers and locals, Ashley Rose has done it again! She launched the new Sugar & Cloth color wall recently and I could help but squeal with excitement. Yes, a multi-colored paneled wall east of downtown for all of the photographers near by to delight in. Houston has undergone over the past few years (I would say even the past decade) a sort of art revival. Where we were once seen as a city of industrial, manufacturing and oil based companies... well, it's now shifting to something new.

With that being said, more color is popping up outside of Montrose. Washington Ave near the Heights has undergone gentrification and now EADO (east of downtown for you out-of-towners) is next on the hit list of hipster locations. Small art shops, coffee shops and other colorful establishments are taking over what used to be run-down buildings. I recently ventured over to Tout Suite for their delish macaroons, and I have to say... it was worth the drive.

The Sugar & Cloth Color Wall has shades of cherry red, blush, aqua, daffodil and others handpicked by Ashley. Her blog is such a source of inspiration for me and I am so glad to see her mural size vision come to life. I wanted to express gratitude for building a wall that makes all of us bloggers in town salivate over a perfect palette of color.

I decided since the wall had so much color I would tone down the hues in my outfit. I wore this adorable LC Lauren Conrad sequin white dress (seen back here with a soft blue coat) and then added a big floppy white hat and vintage straw bag. This is my idea of a weekend uniform. It's crisp white and cleans play well with the feminine, bouncy silhouette. A few weeks ago, I was featured on Lauren Conrad's social media channels including Instagram and Twitter for my favorite pair of ballet flats. I love the construction of her pieces and consistently pick things up at Kohl's when I'm out shopping.
