I love drawing inspiration from other places than just fashion. One of my favorite influences is anything with a preppy feel. From blazers to button ups, I've always gravitated towards an east coast feel. Don't get me wrong, there's so much I love about the west coast, but when it comes to what I wear - I find a little tailoring goes a long way for me. I've had this blush blazer (found a few similar options here, here and here) for years now and pair it with everything from jeans, to dress pants and layer over skirts and dresses. Today I decided to take it to another level and throw it over a pair of cute shorts.
Shorts are one of the tougher things for me to find a good fit. They oftentimes end up making my short legs look shorter so I don't find myself as drawn to them as I do dresses. These are an old pair from Abercrombie and Fitch (I actually have them in 3 colors). When something does fit, I try to pick up multiples for fear I won't be able to get them in the future. White shorts go with everything and I love the way the simple check on my gingham shirt plays off the pumps.
These photographs were taken near Rice University. The campus is really pretty to walk around and there are several things in the area to do. I recently posted about North Boulevard and the rose garden over at Hermann Park. I have some more plans to share upcoming places with you guys for this part of the city soon!
