4th of July Inspiration
Today I thought since July 4th is coming up, I'd share a few inspiration outfits for your holiday festivities. For obvious reasons, all of the outfits in today's post are red, white or blue. Although I really love to dress in theme for holidays, I don't like to wear something too in your face. I put together a little roundup of some of the looks created over the past year that would be perfect for the upcoming holiday weekend.
You can't go wrong with a pair of cut off shorts featured here in my DIY post! The look great with everything from a simple striped red top - perfect for boat rides early mornings at the lake. You can also add a navy blue blouse and some little booties if you are up north. Another look I really like is to pair a blue and white floral top with shorts. Simple, but a slightly different twist on the traditional red, white and blue theme. You can swipe some red lipstick on for a final touch.
I also really love white pieces during the summer. Whether you are going for a preppy look - like a striped button up strategically knotted at the waist with a pair of chino shorts, or a simple white cotton dress, you can put together an effortless look with just a few pieces. Fewer pieces make it easier to pack. A red dress can make a statement as well and if you keep it paired with simple summer accessories like a boater hat, it is a perfect look for a backyard party or BBQ.
Finally, add touches like the DIY anchor scarf I made here, or a simple star themed scarf. Being festive doesn't have to look overboard or tacky. I love to add small touches like these star earrings for a delicate look. Gingham, stripes or plaid all are great prints you can wear for this casual holiday.
