Cobalt and Roses

Spring is a beautiful, but kind of funny season when it comes to the weather. One day it's really hot, the next it's chilly. I posted yesterday on Daily Dose a warm weather look. But sure enough, I awoke this morning to cool crisp weather. I've found a pair of black skinny pants (seen last here) are perfect for this time off year. On warmer days, I like to wear it with a short-sleeved or sleeveless top. For cooler mornings a relaxed lightweight blouse is perfect.

Ever since I was younger, I've gravitated to shades of pink and shades of blue. This color is one of my favorite ones (seen here, here and here). It reminds me of the deep shade of the Mediterranean Sea. I paired it with a black felt hat and triple strap mary janes. A swipe of bold pink lipstick added a colorful pop to the whole look. The trick is to find a shade with cooler tones to play off the coolness of cobalt blue.

On the weekends, I frequently pick of fresh flowers. Flowers and plants are a great way to bring a little color and life into your home. I wish Houston had a flower market like San Francisco or Chicago, but we don't. Outside of local floral shops, my favorite places to pick up fresh blooms include Randall's (they consistently have a great selection of roses) and Dilorio's Farmer's Market (about half an hour from Cypress, read more about this place here and here). I'll switch it up depending on what's in season, but roses are consistently present in my home.
