Spring Green & Bluebonnets

If you are thinking about or planning a trip to Texas, my best advice is to do it in the Spring. The weather is tolerable during that time frame and the countryside just can’t be any prettier. From indian paintbrush to the famous Texas bluebonnets, fields bloom full and roads are lined with the most beautiful wildflowers. Their bright indigo blue and white cap tops blanket patches of land throughout the state. It’s almost like seeing a sea of flowers when you come across a big field of them. I posted last year about a half day route you can take to see multiple patches of bluebonnets (along with some Texas historical sites) in this post.
Today’s post was taken right in the middle of Houston. Yep, couldn’t believe it either. The truth is, if you look around there are beautiful spots all over the place. Being obsessed with photography creates motivation for me to have a wandering eye for nature. People have described Houston as a big area of hot concrete, but I choose to see it differently. The city is filled with beautiful parks such as the Rose Garden at Memorial Hermann and miles of hiking and biking at Terry Hershey. There’s another beautiful route, called White Oak Park you can take in late May and early June for miles heading to downtown Houston and it’s lined with sunflowers.
With the weather soaring to almost 90 degrees all week, I pulled out this cobalt blue dress bought over the winter and layered a spring green scarf over it. Green is a color I do not own as much of (outside of this rain coat, this dress and this romper). I’ve been trying to branch out and accessories are an easy way to do it. I wear so much blue so this lace dress was a good find last Winter. I wore it previously in this post, but bought it to transition into Spring and Summer. I love this nautical striped bag I grabbed when I visited Rhode Island last month. The rope handle is such a great touch. Finally, a pair of tied pointy flats finished it off and made the outfit fitting for a walk in the park or picnic.
