What to Wear to Thanksgiving (and still eat!)
I am really excited to share with you guys this post! Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays because I usually get to spend it with my family. Oftentimes, during Christmas we are scattered since our extended family lives in other states, but for Thanksgiving we usually have the chance to get together on the holiday.
Now that my sister and I are older we usually divide up the side dishes and desserts and get to making delicious food. Some of the things I’ll be making include a squash casserole (I’ve seriously never met anyone who didn’t like it - no, you don’t have to like squash to enjoy), pumpkin cheesecake (I’ve been making this one for almost twenty years!) and a mile high apple pie (recipe courtesy of Martha). I’ll share more about this in an upcoming post, but the menu is so important to us! We love to eat and I’m all about dessert and sides.
For Thanksgiving day I like to be casual but polished at the same time. This teddy bear coat was an arrival from Amazon this week and I knew I would be wearing it for the holiday. A classic look with a little edge is a perfect way to go for any holiday. I paired my coat with an over sized cable knit crew neck sweater in cream and a pair of vegan leather pants (more options below!) These are from last year, but you can pick up a few similar options if you shop this post at the bottom! I also added loafers for a classic yet comfortable look.
We usually spend the morning getting food ready and grazing on port wine cheese, raw veggies and candy. About 2pm we begin dinner and stuff ourselves until nap time. Naps are an all time favorite at my parents and we delight in each one! Afterwards, we oftentimes play games or watch TV shows Dad recorded for us together. Finally, the last part of the weekend is devoted to getting the tree out and adding our childhood decorations! My sister and I usually do a lot of this to help Mom and Dad take a little break.
