Travel: Barton Hill Farms

Dress: Target // Boots: Hunter // Purse: Isabelle

This past weekend I visited Barton Hill Farms for their Fall Festival. Now through November they have an ongoing Harvest Festival every weekend complete with a corn maze and pumpkin patch. The property is really lovely with rolling hills, a few large oak trees and swings hanging off the limbs. The perfect place to sit and feel the breeze of the afternoon as you are there. Although we only spent a couple of hours there, you could easily make a whole day out of it!

To start things off, as soon as we arrived we immediately headed through the corn maze. It’s huge! We only made it through one side, but there were two parts to the maze. The corn husks were about double my height and really thick. Last year I visited the new Texas A&M University corn maze. It was nice, but the corn was still filling in. At Barton Hill Farms, the vegetation is thick and green.

We stopped for some fresh lemonade and an apple blossom drizzled in cinnamon, whipped cream and caramel. After grabbing a bite to eat, we headed over to pick out a pumpkin at the pumpkin patch. There were so many options from little white ones, to nubby ones to even pink pumpkins! It was covered in options.

I wore this adorable plaid dress that is the softest cotton flannel and my red Hunter boots. My Hunter boots are quickly becoming an outdoor favorite item. I debated for over a year whether or not I would buy a pair and finally ordered some about a month ago. I’ve already worn them with shorts, jeans and now a dress. They are great to walk in and I really like that they aren’t slippery on the soles.

As far as this dress is concerned, it’s kind of like wearing a nightgown. I plan on carrying it into the holidays and might even pull it out to sleep in for Christmas morning. Cozy plaids are one of my favorite fabrics for Fall and Winter. I actually just picked up another print to make a mini skirt out of in shades of aborigine and pumpkin. If you feel like a plaid dress is a little much, then add a scarf or a pair of ballet flats. You can easily remove or exchange it depending on the season.
