Fall Florals

Skirt: DIY // Shirt: Chelsea & Theodore (similar) // Bag: Michael Kors (other versions here and here) // Shoes: Jessica Simpson

I haven't done a DIY project in months and finally buckled down last week to make two skirts. Both were adapted from A Pair and A Spare's tutorials! I have to say, Geneva has the best tutorials. They are really easy to follow and I can usually complete a project in an afternoon. I started off making this skirt, and then created a long one with big pleats (from this tutorial). It turned out to be the perfect midi length for Fall. On this particular day, it was still pretty warm and humid so I wore it with an off the shoulder top I bought at the end of Summer.

I plan on transitioning it to the colder months by adding a black long-sleeved tee or crew neck sweater and bundling a white jacket on top of it. Layers upon layers will really take it from a Summer look into a full Fall or Winter. I love that dark floral prints are available for fabric options right now. I really like the way they pop off of a black or navy background. This pattern has a sort of romantic feel and still is feminine.

If you aren't up for a new sewing project this weekend, there are still plenty of options available right now. I really love this and this dress. with long sleeves. This skirt has a similar shape as the one I am wearing today. I also would love to scoop up these floral rain boots or these pumps for a future wear.
