Small Town Charm: Red Velvet Inn

Coat: Gap (old, more options below) // Dress: American Eagle Outfitters (old, similar below) // Pumps: Michael Kors (purchased half price) // Purse: Adrienne Vittadini

I found this little inn last Spring when I was on the hunt for the perfect bluebonnet field. I was hoping I would have time to plan a sort of stay-cation by now… but hasn’t made it into the schedule yet. Fast forward and here we are at almost Christmas and I thought it was a great place for today’s look. Locating a good bed and breakfast can really take you off the beaten path and give you a much homier feel than a typical chain hotel. Not only are many of them renovated historic homes, but you’ll find good ‘ol hospitality.

Because they are usually privately owned, it’s a nice way to find a new place to stay and they have different restrictions that a normal hotel. This particular one allows pets and is located about an hour outside of Houston and twenty minutes from College Station. You can oftentimes book a room on AirBnB or HomeStay. I’ve used AirBnB a few times and had a really good experience. If you are afraid to make the leap check out this post and this post.

As the holidays approach it’s time to pull out all your red, green, mint and burgundy clothes. A hunter green trench coat, plaid wool dress and deep burgundy bag is a twist on the classic red and green Christmas palette. The classic lines of the coat make it timeless and the plaid adds just a little winter flair to the dress. Both items I’ve had for a while now, but seem to find ways to incorporate into the holiday season time and time again. Add a pair of neutral pumps and a swipe of lipstick for the finishing touches.
