Many of us are enjoying Spring Break - although I have to work throughout the week I am looking forward to next weekend and the plans with my family. I'm also looking forward to zero traffic this week. This past weekend I had such a good time enjoying all parts of our beautiful Spring in Texas. The weather was perfect and although it rained all week, it finally let up just in time for Friday afternoon.
As the weather is warming up and vacations are being planned, I decided to sport my new lace up sandals with an old favorite dress. Isn't it fun to switch up something you've had in your closet with the change of a shoe? I swear, on vacation I have the best intentions to only pack a few pairs of shoes, but they always seem to get the best of me. Some gals are all about purses, I'm a shoe gal. Maybe it's because I wear through them from all of the walking I do, or maybe it's from those many years of changing out pointe shoes for ballet. Either way, give me a new pair of shoes and I'll walk an extra mile.
This week I'll be sharing some highlights from this weekend. Weekends for me are about doing things I really love like going to a farmer's market, visiting with family or friends and getting outdoors. On Saturday the Bayou Bend Collection and Garden had their annual Azalea Trail Event which I'll be sharing in a later post (here, here and here is a little preview). The property was breathtaking!
On the weekends I like to mix up my closet. I try to wear something really casual and then switch to something dressier for dinner or brunch. No matter where I'm going, I always try to dress in what I would be comfortable in. This outfit could be easily dressed down with a pair of sandals or ballet flats. For a quick change, add a pair of lace up sandals and boater hats are currently my favorite accessory.
One of the other things I always challenge myself to do on weekends is to try something new - sometimes it's the change of an outfit, sometimes it's cooking something new and sometimes it's visiting somewhere I've never been. It's really pushed me to get out of a routine and see the city through different eyes. I'd love to hear some of your favorite weekend activities!
