Gradient

Dress: Sweet Pea Boutique in New Orleans (similar here) // Bag: Francesca's (similar here) // Sandals: Target (really love these)

Ombre never gets old to me. Ever since I was a child, I would organize things in gradient and color order. From lining up all 64 crayons to the shades of the rainbow to hanging my clothes in my closet in the same fashion, I've been drawn to colors melting together. French impressionist painters knew all about the value of putting two colors beside one another to create a softer way of blending, than actually mixing colors. I derive inspiration from all facets of life from art, to music and outdoor scenery. I am constantly looking for new things to translate into my closet.

This dress was found at one of my favorite shops years ago in New Orleans. Its soft layers gradually go from a yellow to a sea glass green. The simple teal band at the top gives it a little pop. I've worn it with gold strappy heels and white pumps (on sale right now!), but wanted to share a more casual summery look with you today. You can easily dress down anything with the right shoe. Some of my favorite flats are sandals - they instantly make an outfit feel a little more effortless.

I've found a few other really adorable options like this one with a lacy detail, this pastel sequin one, or this simple one that would be a perfect daytime dress.
