A Formal Affair

Classic design holds a dear place in my heart. Although I do not practice interior design, it's what I majored in during my time in college. I still spend hours pouring over images on Pinterest and decor magazines. This lovely dining room was probably my favorite room when I visited Victory Rose Bed and Breakfast last weekend. From the floral inlay details on the walls and ceilings to the ornate chandelier... I was taken aback by how lovely the space was.

A formal dining room is really appreciated by those who love to entertain. Being Southern, my Mom always had a formal dining and living room in most of the homes we lived in. She would regularly entertain other military wives and have soldiers who were without their families come over for the holidays. Some of my favorite memories were when our house was bustling with other people.

This dress has such a romantic feel with it's floral blush pattern and simple ruffle detailing. Although it is a longer length, the outer layer is sheer and doesn't look heavy or overwhelming. I added a simple pair of ballet flats since I'm usually on my feet if I have people over and a vintage locket. I've found a few other options for dresses here, here and here that have a similar look and feel. I love to wear a longer dress when I have people over so I can sit comfortably on the couch.

If you missed the last post I did over at Victory Rose Bed & Breakfast, you can see their front porch here. It's a beautiful property in the Bryan/College Station area. It's in a charming part of Bryan where you can walk to restaurants, shops and hear live music.
