Little Black Dress
Although I rarely wear black or even really pick out black items, every gal needs a little black dress. I recently had to go to an even that required me to wear black, so I opted for a classic lace dress with a little edge. When I do wear black I try to jazz it up and punctuate the outfit with a little color like this pink purse and some mirrored sunnies.
Accessories go a long way with a black dress. You can add a simple pair of leopard flats or two toned cap toe loafers like I did here. I like to juxtapose soft feminine pink with more androgynous details inspired from menswear. Loafers are a great alternative to a ballet flat and they transition nicely from work to play.
As far as picking out a LBD, find something in a shape that flatters with details that make it special. I like that this one is a classic sheath, but made out of the softest cotton lace. The jagged eyelash lace handkerchief hem gives it a little bit of an edge. I love to wear pastels or bright accessories against the dark hue of a LBD. I find the contrast really jumps out!
