East Greenwich is one of the cutest little winter towns. One of my dear friends recently moved up to Rhode Island and invited me to take a weekend to come visit. Rhode Island is a beautiful state with coastal views and nautical touches everywhere you go. I'll post more about the weekend in Providence and time in Newport in upcoming posts, but wanted to share a few places to visit in East Greenwich.

We started by spending the mornings taking a stroll alongside the bay at the marina. The town sits right there on the water and it was so peaceful to spend time relaxing on the dock before heading over to breakfast. There's a restaurant and bar right there for lunch or dinner called Finn's Harborside if you are looking for a place with a view on the water.

As you head up the hill towards Main Street, the homes were all painted in different colors. Many of the structures date back to the 1700's and preserved in good condition.  In Texas, something 150 years seems old, so it was a little mind blowing how old some of the structures were. The entire city is preserved as a historic city and founded in 1677!

There are several tasty little places around the city to grab breakfast. First stop we made was going to Dante's Kitchen which serves up a delicious meal in a casual environment. It's a tiny place with a mom and pop sort of feel. They are family friendly and served a large variety of items from eggs to waffles. Very much a diner atmosphere. After finishing over at Dante's Kitchen, we headed to The Nook to grab my favorite drink - a lavender latte. They make them hot or cold depending on your preference.

Later on that evening, after spending the day out in the cold, we decided to head back to Main Street Coffee for a final after dinner drinks and dessert. I ordered an almond cappuccino with a triple layer torte. Main Street Coffee is an eclectic mix of a coffee house and bar. The had the most adorable fireplace upstairs in a library like setting. It was a nice cozy end to a really chilly day out in the snow.

The little city is about half an hour outside of providence and full of history, beautiful views and places to visit. Whether you are seeking a quiet walk and coffee or a delicious seaside meal, the town offers a variety of stopping points.
