We all derive inspiration from different places and today is no different. I've been on a serious bold pink kick lately when the flowers started blooming a month ago. Roses, azaleas and delpheniums popped up across Houston and I couldn't stop myself from taking photographs of each of them. The color bled into my wardrobe quickly. I posted a few things on the Daily Dose feed including this one, this one and this one incorporating shades of bright pink. It's been really fun to go with a bolder hue lately since I tend to stay on the softer pastel side of things.

The first dress I'm featuring was original purchased for a party themed fuchsia, however it did not arrive in time and I had to readjust my choices. I decided to wear it with a pair of teal Grecian sandals and mint clutch. When you have a dramatic dress, it's good to pull your hair off your face and keep it simple. Let the dress make a statement. I decided to give the whole look a slightly bohemian feel with this halo braid (tutorial here).

This look was for a birthday event I attended for my friend Orlando. He has the most exquisite ability to pull together the most beautiful events. I've known him for several years and for his 50th birthday he hosted a brunch (which I'll post about later) and later that evening a beautiful party at his home. He has such an eye and gift to take ordinary spaces and turn them into magical places. You can check out his webpage (he's even been featured in The Knot!) if you are looking to host an event in Houston! I wore a dress as a top, added my grandmother's butterfly brooch, and layered a tutu on top for a fun festive look.

The final look was what I wore to the actual brunch. I found this dress on Amazon and decided to add a simple striped scarf (similar) as a belt, striped clutch and floral wedges. I wore these wedges with jeans recently here. Wedges are a great option for outdoor gatherings since your shoe heel won't sink into the ground. They are also really comfortable and the floral print gives them a little pop!
