How to Take a Summer Skirt into Fall
Wow was this weekend relaxing. I went up to my family in College Station, TX on Friday night and had the best time. Sometimes it’s nice just to kick it at someone else’s house. From watching Space Jams and playing Wordscapes at my sister’s place to getting tons of exercise and rest, I came back feeling rejuvenated.
This week we are getting a cold front and I may finally be able to wear a jacket! I put together this outfit on Friday to share with you guys an easy way to make a summer skirt transition to fall. You may remember this skirt from earlier last spring where I wore it with a cotton top and espadrilles. I loved how it was lightweight an airy for earlier this year. Now I added a pair of over the knee boots (bought last year but they are still in stock and HIGHLY recommend) and deep burgundy accessories. Finally, a soft cozy fitted grey sweater topped it all off.
One of the things that makes this feel less summer and more fall is the color palette and textures. Suede boots, a felt hat, and soft sweater quickly transition the outfit into autumn. Then, adding the grey and burgundy give the palette a rich muted look instead of spring and summer’s bright pinks. I also added a pearl embellished bobby pin to keep my hair out of my face with or without the hat.
