Winter Skincare Guide

Three Heel Clicks - Winter Skincare Guide (11).jpg

Winter can be grueling on skin with harsh dry cold air to snow or icy weather. If you live in the Southern part of the US you may find one day it’s warm and sunny while the next windy and chilly. For those up North you have to deal with snow, sleet, icy and sometimes into negative temperatures. As one of those in life who repeatedly deals with sensitive dry skin I’ve tried so many products and routines as possible. Over the past two years I’ve edited the following for what is used on a weekly basis. Keeping my skin moisturized and bright is the number one goal and these products consistently reflect results!

Cleanser

I’ve gone back and forth for two years over these two cleansers. First Aid Beauty’s Cleanser ranges between $10-$20 and never dries my skin out. It’s a vegan product that has stood the test of time. I love several of their products (read below) and the cleanser is perfect for a morning and evening wash. Cetaphil’s Daily Cleanser is also a cleanser I am currently using. I’ve tried it for about 3 months now and it’s perfect for travel! It comes in a convenient $3 size that’s flying friendly. I’ll be sharing shortly more about flying essentials but a pocket size cleanser is a must have!

Toner

I’ve mentioned Neutrogena Anti-Blemish pads in my previous beauty regimen post on Drugstore Beauty Products. I’ve been using this product for over a year now and love the results. I use these every other day and sometimes in between washes if I am in a hurry and need to cleanse my face after a workout. They are also perfect for spot treatment if you are starting to breakout!

Blemish Treatment

My favorite product for clearing up acne! I picked it up before a trip to Chicago last year and it works! Within 2-3 days a blemish is completely gone. Usually I see no redness or swelling after putting it on at night. It’s a nice size and sometimes I just keep it in my purse for on the go days where I’m away from home.

Mask

I’ve tried all of L’oreal’s Clay Masks and settled on their Purify and Mattify Clay Mask. Although I joke about feeling like I’m part of the Blue Man Group when I use it, I try to apply twice a week. I find this is refreshing and it helps fight breakouts as well. I usually leave it on until it’s completely dry and then use a warm washcloth to remove before rinsing. It exfoliate and cleanses the pores deeply without stripping it completely of moisture.

Night Cream

This is one of the most important steps! If you can’t purchase every product I recommend cleanser, toner and moisturizer are the absolute bare minimum. I’ve used Olay Whips and really liked the results. Currently I’m using Pond’s Anti Wrinkle Cream. This is another one that comes in travel size from stores like Wal-mart, Walgreens or Target.

Eye Cream

Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Gel Cream is refreshing and helps so much morning or evening to give the most delicate skin on your body the much needed moisture it needs. I like this product so much that I use it daily and find it really helps soften any lines and puffiness under the eyes.

Serum

I’ve been using First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair Serum for over a year. I alternate it with two other products I’ll share with you in an upcoming post, but this one is part of my regular routine. I use it on days I feel my skin gets tight while alternating brightening serums and a dark spot remover serum. Always put your serum on and let the skin soak it in before applying moisturizer.

Oils and Moisturizer

Okay there are two oils I absolutely love! The first is by Tarte and I use it on my face, cuticles and to smooth away fly away hairs. It’s lightweight and so soothing on the skin. My face usually soaks it up pretty quickly and I find it’s a good base for makeup to be applied a few minutes later. The second product was a gift and now I use every single night. I love the soft warm vanilla scent and it’s kept my body smooth after a long soak. Also, if I’m on the run you’ll almost always find First Aid Beauty’s Ultra Repair Cream in my bag. It’s perfectas a hand cream, body cream or facial moisturizer!
