Small Town Charm: Yellow Dress in Fulshear, TX

This past weekend I finally decided to get out and see what Fulshear, TX was all about. For years I spent time with friends and family in its sister city Brookshire, but not until recently when we were coming back from Big Bend did I realize there were actually things to do in this little town. One of the reasons I love writing Small Town Charm posts is because these little gems all over the United States are sometimes hard to find. When I was researching Fulshear earlier this week it was nearly impossible to locate on Pinterest. There were maybe a handful of articles but most lacked depth. When I'm traveling I make it a point to stop at these little towns because they have some of the best food, antique shops and downtown squares. Here's a little guide to Fulshear, TX.

Where to Eat

I chose to stop at the Essence House Cafe where I indulged in a delicious cappuccino (made with soy, they did not have almond milk) and their Cobb salad. I have to say, with all of it's toppings such as a boiled egg, bacon bits and avocado it did not disappoint. All of their salads come in two sizes, both small (pictured here) and large (couldn't even imagine what that was like). The small was very filling and made the perfect lunch. Their menu is pretty big and they have an entire page devoted to breakfast. If I go back I'd probably check out their omelettes or sandwiches. Once you wrap up from lunch, head directly across the street to The Sweet Tooth Shoppe where you can load up on candy and enjoy a bite of desert on their colorful patio. It's the perfect place for kiddos!

Where to Shop

There are a handful of places on the main stretch leading into downtown where you can pick up gifts, apparel and kid items. Gaby's Boutique had a sidewalk sale going on over the weekend. You can also stop by Hashtag Kids for children's items. The Red Potato Market carries vintage home goods and garden items. Finally, if you are just looking for a gift shop check out The Corner House Shop.

What to Wear

I chose to pull out this floral dress I recently picked up which was just perfect for a Saturday afternoon. For under $30 it has so much movement and style. It's a traditional wrap dress with a yellow slip dress underneath. The ruffle detail and floral pattern was just feminine enough without being overboard. It paired perfectly with a vintage straw bag, scarf and gladiator sandals.
