Travel Guide: San Marcos River

Hat, Swimsuit (similar here), Shorts: Target // Sunnies: Circus by Sam Edelman // Flipflops: Wal-greens

One of the best things to do if you are visiting the Texas Hill Country is to visit one of the many beautiful rivers. The water is perfectly clear and there isn't much better than spending the afternoon floating with a delicious coconut water in hand. Texas is beautiful in many places, but the Texas Hill Country is so far my favorite area to spend time getting a little rest and relaxation.

It's so cool to just stop by for a few minutes to get a quick dip and eat a bite picnic style - or you can make a day out of it by grabbing a tube and floating for hours. Either way, it's nice to be out in the sunshine and taking in all that mother nature has to offer. There is something about being outdoors that just uplifts my spirits no matter what is going on in my life.

I spent time pinning several one-piece options over the past few months here - when I finally spotted (at a ridiculously cheap price point) one at Target. I'm not going to lie, Target is one of my go-to stores for trendy pieces. In fact, unintentionally the hat and shorts were also picked up on previous trips in the past. I really love a boater hat and have another one with a much wider brim (see here and here). Although it's nice for blocking the sun, it's not always practical to lie around with a hat that huge. The smaller boater is easy to tuck into my tote if I decided not to wear it and would pack nicely on my next vacation or weekend trip.

I really love these cream colored crocheted shorts. I've worn them here with heels and here with a sweater and ballet flats. I've stayed within my goals of only making strategic purchases (mostly at a bargain) so that my wardrobe works well together. A pair of simple rose gold flip flops (picked up at Wal-greens) were perfect to spend a half hour eating my lunch and then enjoying a few minutes in the beautiful water.
