Striped Sundress

Sundresses are the item I wear most in the hot months of Summer. Old Navy has had some of my favorites this year like this gingham print, this white one I wore a few weeks ago, and this simple purple one. They all have different personalities, but the fit and flare style seems to flatter my body type really well. In fact, I find it flatters most figures!

One of the things I’ve really tried to change in my life is being really comfortable. Not just in my outfit, but learning to accept my weaknesses and manage around them while maximizing my strengths. About ten years ago I had the privilege of listening to Marcus Buckingham speak about just that – managing around weaknesses and maximizing strengths. I try to recognize my weaknesses and accept them. Not to say I do not try to improve them, but I try to focus on being just me. In my words, how I move, what I do every day.

I try to put a little more into my life so that I have constructed a world I am comfortable in my own skin. I didn’t always do this. There was a time that I worried more about what other people thought, than what I knew inside. As I’ve grown both in years and experience, I realized that to be comfortable in your own skin – you have to go inward. We all have insecurities. We all have weaknesses. We all have things we are unsure about. But by recognizing them and deciding not to let them prohibit me moving forward, that is being comfortable.

Also, comfortable doesn’t mean stagnant. I chose a career path that constantly puts me in challenging positions. I call it the art of being comfortable being uncomfortable. Uncomfortable and challenging situations will come throughout life; it’s how you respond to those situations that make you comfortable with who you are.
