The Perfect Yellow Wrap Skirt for Spring
Yellow is one of the happiest colors you can wear and starts showing up in nature about this time of year. From bright daffodils to sunny shades of marigold this color literally starts popping up everywhere as snow fades and spring blooms open. Yellow is a staple color in my wardrobe just like blush and navy. I probably wear it more often than any other color during the warmer months of the year. Whenever I’m searching for an outfit to elevate my mood, yellow is where I turn to achieve that experience.

You may recognize this skirt from Instagram last week when I wore it in blush. It’s under $30 so of course I bought it in two colors. When you find something you love, get it in multiples. You will not regret that choice. The skirt has so much drama and flair and love how you can dress it up or dress it down. I wore it with a tank top when I was at the beach, but switched to a button down and white booties when we arrived in Sacramento. It’s a little cooler here than in the South so I could get away with a pop of white booties.
Also right now, you will find tortoise shell accessories are all the rage. I’m loving how neutrals are in right now. I’m wearing tortoise earrings here along with a leather watchband for my apple watch and a vintage leather Coach purse. It never hurts to have a few neutral accessories on hand to go with brighter colors like yellow. I personally think yellow pairs beautifully with warm shades of tans, camels and browns for Spring.

I recently discovered the label La Maison Talulah and let me tell you I couldn’t be happier. The brand designs the most feminine dresses with the most delicate of details like the button-down bodice and tiered ruffle skirted on this dress. You probably remember this short floral dress I wore recently here and here. That one has the most beautiful cut and ruffles on the shoulders and sleeves. The fabric of both dresses was also impressive. Such quality! If you are looking for a few options at lower price points check out the shopping list below! I included a few from Amazon that is under $50!
I am so happy that Spring is just a few weeks away! After the past week of temperature drops each night, Texas is finally looking up! Today it’s a full 77 degrees and sunny. I’m going through my closet this weekend to push my Winter items towards the back and rotate all of my spring dresses to the front. Florals, solids, and ginghams all take center stage in wardrobe over the next few months. Today I’m sharing a gorgeous wrap dress that would be perfect for a wedding or formal event. Look for pieces with special touches like this asymmetrical ruffle hemline! I rounded up almost 100 dresses for you below to shop! As low as $17 and ranging up to luxury fashion. The past few weeks I’ve been in a state of unpacking, organizing, and decorating my new home. I moved in about three weeks ago with a plan of action that unfolds more and more every day. I absolutely love getting to decorate and design spaces. In fact, I love it so much that’s what I went to college for! Funny how much I’ve used the degree in my regular life over the years. I’ve been sharing glimpses of the new place over on my Instagram (see this post and this post) but today I wanted to roll out a really simple idea for a blank wall or hallway on the blog!
Our world shifted and shifted fast a few weeks ago. It dawned on me that this shift is creating what we might call a new horizon. While we are all boarded up practicing sheltering-in-place, I thought it would be an incredible opportunity to address topics like self worth, confidence building, empowering others, anxiety and overcoming fear. With uncertainty compounding daily, I aim to offer an outlet for those of you who are looking for coping techniques and support during these unexpected times.
This past year has amounted to an extreme amount of growth. Almost a year ago, I made the decision to go back to one-on-one counseling to sort out some stuff that was surfacing emotionally in my life. It was so hard, but I finally feel like I’m on the upswing and things are more manageable. It’s easy to make excuses in our lives for behaviors we did when we were not at our best. It’s also really easy to blame others for the things that went wrong. Ultimately, accepting full responsibility for my life has given me freedom and inner power I did not know a few years ago. I’m going to share with you today 10 Things I Learned this Year in hopes of inspiring you to rise above your current state of being into a higher version of yourself.
