Scarves as Face Coverings

Over the past few months I’ve been trying to find ways to incorporate face coverings into my regular wardrobe. Isn’t it weird to now be required to wear an accessory over your face? I know I have found it odd and oftentimes I have to remind myself before leaving the house, do I have a face covering? I’ve found the easiest and one of the most comfortable options is to wear a bandana or scarf in leu of an actual mask. They are a very pretty alternative and add versatility to your closet. If you don’t have scarves on hand, I’ve rounded up a whole selection below for you to shop - all under $50!

Let’s talk about how to pick a pretty scarf. You can always go with something really classic like a bandana, but a floral or small print is a beautiful choice. I reversed the blue and pink combo above to contrast and coordinate floral prints. Makes a lovely work option if you do have to venture into the office.

Another combo I love is to use vintage scarves with modern designs like this wrap dress from Everlane. It’s sleek lines are perfect for this time of year and you can add a cardigan or lightweight jacket over it if it’s cool. I live in Texas and we have weather that is one day rainy and cool and then the next scortching hot! Add a crossbody and slides for a casual look on the weekends. When you aren’t wearing your scarf as a face covering you can easily tie it onto your bag or pull it down and wear as a neckerchief.

For this look try mixing a them like flowers. I wore an oversize flower cocktail ring with a soft yellow scarf. Then, a gorgeous floral dress with lightweight cardigan. When mixing prints, just stay in a them and color scheme. This one works because there are hints of yellow and pink in both the scarf and the dress. Don’t overthink fashion! Take a quick picture if you are unsure and then you’ll know if it coordinates or clashes. I rely heavily on selfies to make sure that what I am seeing in my head translates in real life!

Another option is to wear one with leggings and a simple cotton wrap top. This is perfect for a weekend activity or shopping trip. I love the warm hues of marigold yellow paired with olive green. Leggings are a favorite Fall outfit item and this is such a good errand running outfit. Laid back and comfy - ideal for a Saturday coffee run.
