Shopping On Melrose Avenue
Last weekend, after a terrifying incident involving me getting trapped in an elevator sans cell phone, I decided it was time for a little retail therapy. So I threw on a the softest sage green midi dress (you can check out several options similar here) with a vintage woven belt and embroidered mules to shop until my little heart was content! Like I mentioned in last weeks Five Must Haves for LA… a shopping tote was also brought along to hold onto my sweater and any goodies I came across.
Comfortable walking shoes are a must when shopping. I like ones that easily slip on and off so I can try on shoes or take them off if they distract from a dress I’m looking at. These neutral loafer like mules are polished looking and underwhelming due to their nude shade. I also liked how they matched my skin tone! That allowed my leg to look longer instead of squatty.
One of the cool things about LA is that it’s fashion forward with tons of street style! Melrose Avenue is filled with individual designers and stores with a gritty flair. You can pretty much get away with most styles here as long as you go all out. There’s also an awesome flea market held every Sunday called Melrose Trading Post. It’s HUGE! Filled with food trucks, live music and just about every vendor you can imagine! It’s also a fabulous place to score vintage jackets, hats and accessories!
After a few hours of grazing on snacks and filling our shopping totes we decided to head to the nail salon and treat ourselves to some mani and pedi oblivion. On the way we stopped at Lemonade of Beverly for a cup of fresh squeezed lemonade! Try the strawberry rosemary or lavender infused drinks for the most refreshing glass of lemonade.
