About six weeks ago I started using the @sweat app. I noticed my activity was lower and so was my mood. I lacked motivation and also kept getting cluster headaches. After talking to my therapist, she suggested I try adding HIIT into my workout routine. I am a very busy mom who works full-time, homeschools and runs a beauty business online. I have very little time or mental space to figure out a manageable routine. I decided after browsing a few black Friday sales to give BBG another try. For the past three years I’ve used the app during the Fall and Winter months to get my heartrate up during shorter days where a long walk just wasn’t possible. The workouts are really simple and it feels like I have a personal trainer on my phone! If you are looking to refresh your workout routine for the new year and want something effective I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TRYING THIS APP! Here are details about my results over the past six weeks.

Week 1

My body felt soft and heavy. I was having headaches constantly and hitting between 300-400 active calories a day on walks. I felt like I needed more. You can see I’m a little puffy around the abdomen and thighs in the photo.

Week 2

Less bloated. I started eating gluten-free after Thanksgiving. I noticed an immediate increase in energy this week. The workouts were intense but I found it was pretty easy to put three 30-minutes into my weekly schedule.

Week 3

Starting to see definition around my abs. I’m easily hitting 500 active calories a day. I also have decreased anxiety and event did my workouts on a road trip. This photo was taken in a hotel room and with a simple towel on the floor I was able to complete two workouts on the trip! No equipment needed!

Here’s a side by side comparison of week one on the left and week four on the right in a hotel room. You can see my thighs and sides are getting slimmer and trimmer. My weight has remained the same throughout the regimen because I’m in my healthy weight zone. Instead I’ve noticed my body is rearranging it’s form which is fun to see in these pictures and motivates me to push harder!

Week 4

My legs are getting a lot slimmer at this point. I also see muscle definition in my hamstrings. Still increased energy. Easily sleeping through the night and anxiety is significantly lowered.

Week 5

My entire body is now seeing definition all over. The app changes the routine as you progress through it and the exercises are getting a little harder. Headaches at this point are almost completely non-existent. The workouts are part of my routine - I’m now increasing my calorie burn to 600 active calories a day and notice I feel better than I have in months!

Week 6

This was yesterday’s workout pic. I highly recommend taking pictures as you do this! Sometimes progess feels slow but looks significant when you compare in a photo. I’m doing 4 miles in walks with my dog everyday on top of the workouts 3 times a week.

A few tips for making the best of your workout on the Sweat app. Have a favorite playlist on Spotify ready so keep your mood positive while you workout (check out the one I put together here). Grab a mat and lay it out in the morning to remind yourself to do the workout. Also, refresh your workout clothes! I promise it helps! Grab a couple of outfits you can mix and match for different looks. Then just commit! Take those before and after pictures and share your #bbg journey on social media.
