How to Wear Booties if You're Petite
I have to admit I was hesitant to jump on the bootie bandwagon. Being only five feet tall booties didn’t seem like a leg lengthening shoe. Boy was I wrong! I just wasn’t sure how to wear them. Well folks, today I’ve got you covered. For anyone out there who has the privilege of being pint sized here are a few tips about how to wear booties!
Shop the Post:
I started by making sure I paired them with the same color pants to give the illusion of length. This is a trick I often go to. Sometimes I’ll wear nude heels with bare legs. Other times it’s over the knee boots on top of jeans of the same hue. Dressing mono-chromatically gives the illusion of length. Another trick is to look for a boot with a pointy toe. This also makes the leg look much longer. Today I paired white booties with a simple white pair of skinny jeans for a lean look.
With spring being just around the corner I have all of the pastel feels. I pulled out this powder blue coat and beanie (worn in this post and this post) and paired it with otherwise neutrals. Blue pairs so nicely with white and tan. You can easily change this outfit up by switching the sweater for a soft blush, lavender or another neutral like navy or black.
What are ways you like to wear booties?

Insecurities are something we all have. Many of them were formed in childhood and then reinforced throughout our teenage and adult lives. For some of us the insecurity lies in our physical looks (here is a great post for how to have a better body image) but for others, our insecurities lie in feeling loved in our relationships. I’ve been going through intense therapy this year and we’ve been digging deep into my childhood, doing shadow work, and healing my inner child. I’ll share a few ways that therapy has helped me over this past year and what I’m currently working on.
What a week already! Loved getting to shop lots of Amazon Favorites this week for Prime Day Big Deals and looking forward to beginning my holiday season shopping. Have you already started rounding things up for Christmas? I’ll be curating a Holiday Shop this season so stay tuned for updates and make sure you are subscribed to my newsletter! You’ll be the first to know all the best deals and finds. Today I’m sharing a new brand I’ve been working with called Zesica! I have several pieces like this coral henley top, this adorable comfy oversized two-toned sweatshirt, and this striped sweater that is my favorite stripe sweater so far this season.
Fall is here officially and I thought it would be the perfect time to share a few basics you need for your closet right now! Right now the colors oatmeal, mocha, and mustard are in! As much as I love tons of color I also love to reach for the basics on days I want to feel cozy. A few things I recently added and love are this soft chenille oatmeal sweater, this mocha-colored sweater dress, a walnut faux leather skirt, an off-the-shoulder top, and a black long-sleeve basic tee! You can grab all of these items from Amazon and they are super affordable. I’ve had these tan boots and a Coach purse (an old one, but a newer version in the same color here) on repeat as my main accessories lately. Don’t forget to grab a hat to top it all off! You can shop all my favorites on my Amazon storefront or the LTK App here! Happy Shopping and I’d love to know which look is your favorite!
Fall is almost here and it’s boots season! I am so excited about all the options this season. If you’ve been following my Instagram lately, you’ll find tons of western boot styles including these black rhinestone booties and these knee-high silver ones! Every time I put either pair on I immediately feel like heading to a Taylor Swift concert. If you know… you know! I went ahead and rounded up a ton of options for you in all price points. I love pairing boots with short body con dresses like this striped one from Lillusory. It’s great for this time of year and you can throw a moto jacket on for an edgy look. Whether you are looking for glam boots or classic styles for work you’ll find everything you need below for a chic Fall update! Hope you enjoy and make sure you DM a pic when you put on a pair!
Thought I’d start a new series and share 30 days of outfits with you! You can follow along here on the blog and I’ll be posting content on Instagram each day. First up is this adorable sweater dress from Amazon. I love how it’s not too bulky! It layers really nicely under a coat and also has a great length. I added this belt (I have it in a couple of colors I love it so much). The belt gives definition to the waist and keeps me from looking frumpy. I added a leather tote bag and a small baguette with gold hardware. You can shop the baguette (use code THREEHEELCLICKS50 for 50% off your first order). For the finishing touches, I added a pair of sleek black knee-high stiletto boots and classic aviator sunglasses. You can shop the entire look here!
Hope you guys had an awesome weekend! I am getting more and more of my Christmas decor out and having a blast doing decorating. I’m curious, do you decorate before or after Thanksgiving? Anyhow, today I am rounding up my favorite items for the total boss babe. From these pumps use code: THREEHEELCLICKS40 for $40 off (the most comfortable I own - seriously… I can stand in them all day), this blazer is my favorite this season and comes in a bunch of colors and this gold stapler will make anyone feel like a total baller. I love this classic satchel for an everyday bag. I also added my favorite bath soak with Melatonin and this back massager which I’ve had for two years!!! Working hard, but playing and resting even harder is my motto. Shop the entire list at the bottom of the post! Which item is on your list this year?
The past few months have been by the far the most transformative months in my life. I wrote a little about the past three years in my last post, but the past few months have grown in a new light. I reached a point where the universe gave me the opportunity to pair up with someone and grow with them. In the course of this healing process, I broke free from generational ties, and limiting beliefs and began doing exactly what I loved every single day. I believe that what we attract, we get. I believe that you can have the life of your dreams. I believe that the universe supports you when you give love. I believe that the greatest of all the gifts we receive is the power to go within. I also believe that you can have, be and do anything given enough time and resources.
Can you believe we are already halfway through Summer? Oh my goodness! Time flies. I shared a bunch of my favorite summer items for Amazon Prime Day in yesterday’s post. Today I decided it was time to round up a bunch of my back-to-school favorites and Fall items. I love the earthy colors, classic shapes, and workwear. You can even grab a couple of party dresses to have on hand. I also love mixing in things like scarves, cap toe mules, and teddy coats. Corduroy skirts and sweater dresses are must-haves for the early Fall chilly evenings! You can shop a ton of items at the bottom of this post along with ways I’ve styled each look!
The past 6 months I have traveled every few weeks somewhere for the weekend. Work, events, and campaigns have taken me all over the place. When you are in a constant travel mode you get accustomed to having some sort of system to pack or you won’t know your right from your left hand. I’ve curated a list of must-haves for most of my trips regardless of the climate. I recommend always bringing something for warm weather (places heat up) and something for cold weather (cold fronts happen). I’ve written a bunch of posts over the years on packing here but today I’m going to focus on classic items you can bring for your next weekend getaway.
Here we are smack dab in the middle of February and it’s always a challenge to decide what to wear. For some, it’s still ridiculously cold. Not quite Spring, but definitely time to get out of the holiday glitz of the past few months. I find that having a few classic pieces to mix in and transition my wardrobe from Winter to Spring makes getting dressed so much easier. A lightweight turtleneck in soft gray, punchy yellow pieces, a black shirtdress, and straw bags are all perfect pieces for this time of year. I recently picked up a cotton black shirt dress from Amazon the Drop. It will be perfect with tights and a trench coat now then with wedges during the Spring. I put together a list of some of my favorite things to stock up on right now.
Mental health. I’m so glad this topic has been on the rise especially since the pandemic hit. Now more than ever more and more people need resources. My anxiety journey began about 10 years ago. Through a series of trials, errors, and lots of therapy I am now able to manage panic attacks and anxiety without medication. This post is in no way meant to replace medical advice. If you are struggling I absolutely recommend seeking professional help. Today I’d like to share a resource I use in my own mental health toolkit called a “Coping Checklist.” I’m going to share with you guys a few benefits of having one and the science behind it, how to create one, and when to use it. The biggest key in your coping checklist is to use it as soon as you feel anxiety come on. The more you go through the sequence the easier the panic becomes to manage.
I love drawing inspiration from nature, and this includes the shades of snow that fall this time of year. Although Texas only gets snow on occasion, I still find myself drawn to the beautiful shades of cream and winter white. It’s been on rotation in the closet these past few weeks. For this look, I paired a cream-colored cardigan (that has the sweetest collar) and a fluffy white jacket (similar one here) to create a neutral but not boring look. I paired it with my favorite pair of jeans (that I have in multiple washes) and knee-high tan boots that are under $50!! You could top this look with a camel-colored coat and scarf if you live in a colder environment! I rounded up a ton of my favorite winter white options below!
For the past few days I’ve really kicked my outfits up a notch. It’s the last week of the year and around the 20th I decided to wear my best. I found this dress the other day when I was finishing some Christmas shopping and thought it was the perfect holiday staple for my closet. I can see it being equally cute if I swapped out pumps for the boots. I love the soft champagne color and the whole thing was on sale for under $20. What a steal.
This is now my third Christmas in a row of being sober. I can tell you that although my twenty-something self would have looked at me like I had two heads if I had told her she would be completely sober through a pandemic and into the year following a global shutdown. Yes, this person right here used to love her wine and champagne. Especially on a holiday. A few years ago I made the decision to stop drinking in hopes that my life would find purpose and I would stop having panic attacks. Both happened and here we are ordering mocktails instead of martinis. So little is really talked about in the drinking world outside of being either a drinker or someone who doesn’t. I love going to a good party. I also love fancy drinks. What I don’t love is alcohol. It just doesn’t agree with my anxiety and I feel like a happier human being without it. If you are also in the same boat and alcohol just doesn’t do it for you right now I’m here to tell you a few ways I still have fun without having a hangover.
Sometimes I have to do a little reality check on myself. This week was one of those times. After a whirlwind of ten days of non-stop travel and then the joys of Thanksgiving I rolled right into this last week with fatigue. Not only fatigue, but my sister spent Friday getting a metal rod out of her leg in surgery. She had an injury five years ago and decided to get the hardware taken out this past week. I didn’t realize just how much all of these blessings would also add extra stressors into my life. I drove into Houston on Friday and let me tell you my anxiety was at an all-time high. Once I returned home I made a decision to do everything I could to clear my calendar for Saturday and just decompress. Anxiety never goes completely away, but I have managed these past few years to get it in a manageable state. I thought it would be wildly appropriate to share what I experience and how I cope with amounting pressure in hopes that it helps you, too.
It’s no secret that I love Amazon. From their incredibly streamlined delivery and return policy to the quality of the Amazon the Drop collections that highlight influencers, time and time again I am impressed by what they have created in the retail space. To think that they single-handedly changed the book and printing industry! I’m overjoyed day after day with my Audible subscription, endless tv options on Amazon Prime, and getting packages regularly that have that little smile icon on them. With all of the amazing sales and deals happening I had to share my favorite Amazon finds. I’m dating things back over the past year with each item being something I’ve either used, purchased for someone else, or currently have on my own wish list.
Last weekend I made a trip to East Texas to check out the last of the beautiful Fall foliage that we have here in Texas before the gray of Winter sets in. I stopped at the sweetest little city in Sulphur Springs where I found the prettiest building which is their courthouse. It immediately made me feel like I was standing in front of a castle! Small town Texas is known for it’s beautiful architecture like this. So much European influence from Germany, France and Spain! Sulphur sits between East Texas and Dallas. If you get a chance to stop through there, I highly recommend it! So much boutique shopping and places to eat. There’s a beautiful park in the center of the town square you can stroll!
What is fall without a little plaid? I don’t know about you, but I legit wait for autumn to roll around this time of year so I can bust out all my cozy pieces. Plaid is such a classic print (actually one of the few prints you’ll find in my closet) and as soon as the cool weather hits I pull out all of my plaid pieces. This blazer has some history to it - it was given to my grandmother by her sister. Then, it was passed down to my mom who then passed it to me. I absolutely adore and cherish it! I paired it with a bigger plaid print and my new favorite jeans for a very classic look. Add on navy booties and you’re ready to go. Below is a round-up of more of my favorite plaid pieces and a few plaid looks I’ve shared in the past!
Fall is approaching next week and I’m here for it! I mentioned recently that we won’t get a true Fall for a few more months, but I am transitioning my color palette and textiles over to Autumn hues like burnt umber, walnut, olive, mustard, and sage. Recently, I’ve been drawn to shades of green and rich browns. If you live in a warm climate like me, you can get into the Fall spirit by incorporating short sleeve or sleeveless lightweight sweaters. I’ve also started updating my work wardrobe for in-person meetings as well as shoe choices to include short rain boots, mary janes, and textured pumps. Below is a quick round-up of my current favorite purchases on Amazon!
I woke up this morning and stepped out on my back patio to feel the rush of the cool crisp air meet my face. Texas doesn’t get a true fall until about November but we do love our gentle mornings. I quickly made a cup of coffee and walked over to start journaling as I usually do. I felt so grateful in that moment. To be here, in my new house (for years I’ve lived in an apartment) sipping on coffee in sweat pants. It was surreal. Over this past year I’ve experienced a tremendous amount of growth. If I were to sit here and tell you all of the ways you would be astonished, but I am living proof that dreams can come true.
I’ve shared so much lately about bringing joy into my own life. One of the things that was the toughest to go through when I was experience panic attacks a few years back was being happy. In fact, I felt the opposite of happy most of the time during that era of my life. Each day I try to do at least one activity that raises my joy level. Sometimes it’s painting with acrylics while watching The Crown. Other times you’ll find my daughter and I dancing around the house after she gets a high grade on her school work. Being happy is a choice and I can’t think of a better way to move towards joy than incorporating a little play time.
We are few weeks away from Valentine’s Day which is the PERFECT time to start browsing gift ideas! With so many businesses online now, it’s a deal to get things knocked out sooner than later. Giving the gift of clean beauty is the perfect way to show someone you love how much you care! Pretty much anyone (no matter what the age) can benefit from skincare that is proven to help produce a healthier face! I’m rounding up a few of my favorite products like our masks, new cleansing balm and lipsticks that are perfect to give the special someone in your life.
Every January I find myself gravitating towards simplifying. From clearing out clutter and holiday decor to clean eating the turn of the year presents itself with a chance to start clean. I find this theme is reflected in my home, my beauty routine and my wardrobe.
The past six months of my life have been emotionally challenging. Postpartum combined with several joyful life changes left me feeling like I had new roles to step into and the pressure was high. Right before my husband and I had our baby we made the decision to start a new business. From the outside it looked like I had it together, but the next few months would unveil a completely different side of me that I wasn’t prepared to deal with.
