Spring Accessory and Fashion Forecast
I spent a good amount of time this weekend refilling my cup. After a long week and busy week, sometimes a little self-care and rest can go a long way. The past two weeks I actually felt a lack of creativity. Whenever that happens, I usually need to give myself downtime to gather energy and inspiration. That’s exactly what I did this weekend. I took time to myself to watch a few movies like The Little Things where Jared Leto scored a Golden Globe nomination and the classic Still of the Night with Meryl Streep (and a drool worthy set and wardrobe). I also went on a long walk which I talked about in my Instagram post this morning. I flipped through magazines and spent a good amount of time journaling. My motto this year is: Breathe. Faith. Abundance. Whenever life starts getting overwhelming I write this down and say it a few times over and over. By Saturday evening I felt a renewed sense of energy. I’d love to know if you experience something similar after taking time to yourself?
Spring is about a month away and I’m itching for this time of year. I love the color of the flowers that bloom and come out of hiding after a barren bleak Winter. As we move into the transition between Spring and Winter I try to refresh my closet with a few new added pieces. This season I’m adding touches of woven raffia (like the slides from Wal-mart featured here) and patchwork (this skirt is a total steal from Amazon). As I look to high end designers like Zimmerman, Etro and LoveShackFancy I see their inventory is flooded with mix and match prints. I love taking inspiration from luxury fashion and incorporating those themes into a budget friendly wardrobe.

Another trend I’ve been seeing is a longer length in skirts and dresses which is great for an at home option that’s practice and comfortable. Look for a midi-ankle length so you don’t trip over it moving around your house. I love that I can comfortable sit in almost any position or bend without flashing those around me. It’s a great alternative to yoga pants and more polished than sweat pants or joggers. Much much more comfortable than a pair of jeans. You can easily add a woven belt and pretty top for running errands and when you leave the house. Add a pair of floral earrings for an added spring like touch.
I challenge you this week to go through and make a Pinterest board or Instagram Collection to reflect what you want your Spring Wardrobe to look and feel like. I love collecting ideas to find new ways to wear old favorites and help edit new editions. When your wardrobe has a cohesive look and feel it’s easy to put a looks together without a fuss.
Today’s post is filled with delightful tips and goodies that are both practical and pretty. I’ll start with the dress and then make my way through a few beauty tips for Spring I’ve been excited to share about. First of all, look at this daring blue dress? It’s made out of the softest cotton and under $25! I picked it up with my groceries when I was at a local l store but you can order it online here! For daytime I wore it with a woven neutral belt then transitioned by letting my hair down and relaxed my waistline by removing the belt. I added a fresh hibiscus from the garden just like I would if I were on vacation.
