Although I still have posts to catch you up on my last trip to Birimingham, I unexpected was invited yestereday to join a friend at The Rose Emporium near Brenham, TX. If you live in Houston and you’ve never been then it’s time to get moving on making plans to visit. The grounds and store are in full bloom right now. I felt like I was instantly transported out of Texas and into an English country garden.

The Antique Rose Emporium is located near Brenham, TX and is filled with a variety of roses on display in the gardens and to purchase at their store. You will find beautiful varieties including climbing and shrub versions in various colors and scents! Little fact I learned from my friend on the trip and that roses have different appeals to different noses. That means if I smell a rose I love you might not like it as much!

This location hosts events and weddings! If you are in the market to book an event near Houston, I suggest taking a look at this one because it’s a dream come true in our Texas surroundings. You may remember this post on the Memorial Hermann Rose Garden near the medical center in the city. Although it’s such a pretty garden, getting out of the city is always refreshing for myself. I imagine it is for many of you as well!

Today I wore a pretty floral romper which you can find so many similar for under $30 on my Amazon Shop! It’s such a good price point and really flattering. I like to look for a more relaxed fit on the shorts when I’m shopping for a romper. I think they are more comfortable and allow you to move easily. I added a lace embellished cardigan, simple flat slides (which I basically wear every single day) and I added a hat to keep the sun off my face. This hat was found in a boutique in Marble Falls, TX. You can find more options below but if you are looking for hat inspiration check out this page full of hat looks!

I find getting outdoors this time of year is so beneficial for my mood. It’s so easy when you work from home to get into a rut and little day trips provide an outlet for adventure and inspiration. I have a few other locations I’m trying to squeeze in over the next two week like picking strawberries at a local farm! One of the other things I try to do when I’m out is check around on Yelp the best rated local restaurants and coffee shops. I happened on this day to find a cafe in Navasota owned by the mayor called Classic Rock Coffee which serves delicious coffee and a variety of healthy salads, wraps and sandwiches! I was really impressed and one of the locals referred us to visit.

One of the ways you can stay organized for a trip is to create a Pinterest board for inspiring places in nature, other people’s itineraries and restaurants. That makes it really easy to gather inspiration and gives you a reference point when you are quickly trying to find something to eat or do on a trip. I created a short video for today’s trip that’s about a minute long and includes views of the pretty gardens. Watch the video here or click on the photo below for the entire

After you create a board, you can easily list out in your phone’s notes or email yourself an itinerary for a trip if you prefer to schedule things. I like a loose schedule that allows for spontaneous things to come up if we come across something inspiring! But I do like having a general game plan to prevent hungry stomachs and chaos.
