Fourth of July Weekend

Shorts: Old Navy // Swim: Aerie // Shoes: Random (another pair here) // Bag: Mud Pie

Ah, summer is upon us and I'm soaking up as much sunshine as I can. I spent yesterday hanging out with one of my dear friends at her pool. We had the best time relaxing for hours hydrating our bodies with fruit and coconut water. I wore this adorable gingham swimsuit I ordered a few weeks ago. It is the perfect companion to a pair of shorts or skirt and goes easily from the pool to any other activity. In fact, I ended up wearing it all day long.

Putting together a summer spread is pretty easy. We grabbed our favorite summer fruits like a watermelon, cantaloupe, blueberries and strawberries. After quickly washing and cutting the fruit, we assembled it onto a simple baking sheet as a platter. Then, we added a delicious honey goat cheese, dutch Gouda and a cheddar on a plate with my favorite dark sea salt chocolate. As the chocolate warmed up in the sun, it provided the perfect dipping sauce for the delicious strawberries.

I'm all about easy entertaining. The key to making things look aesthetically pleasing and delicious is to keep it simple with fresh food. Arranging a colorful platter takes just a few minutes and will last for hour in the heat. Make sure to bring a cooler and stock it with bottled or coconut water. When you spend all day in the sun it's really important to hydrate!

We brought our favorite tunes like Kat Edmonson and Milky Chance (you can follow more on Spotify: threeheelclicks). It was truly a refreshing way to spend Sunday afternoon.

My love for gingham seems to never end. I continue to add scarves, swimsuits (here and here), tops, dresses (here and here) and now a cute pair of shorts. It's probably my favorite print and I plan on adding a simple blush sweater and ballet flats or loafers to carry these into the Fall.
