Deciding to open a new element to this blog in 2019 around beauty and skincare was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. For years Three Heel Clicks focused on fashion, travel and interiors. When I was approach by a top earner in a clean beauty company to share their product line I had no idea how much it would change my entire approach to self care. I used to be the girl who bought a hodge podge of makeup. Sometimes higher end and sometimes drugstore buys. Converting over to working with a single brand for all makeup and skincare was a gamechanger. I’m going to share a few secrets with you today on how I lighten acne scars, minimized hormonal acne and created a beautiful canvas for a flawless looking face.

Great makeup begins with great skincare

Makeup should enhance your natural features. When I began working with Younique’s beauty line I realized my skin was in pretty rough condition. I have very dry, over reactive skin and was combatting hormonal acne. I switched to using a customizable solution (read more about that here) and it made all of the difference. Simple changes like implementing a regimen twice a day and combining with treatment masks was the difference I needed for my skin to change. Around this time frame I asked stopped drinking alcohol, went through counseling for stress management and started getting way more beauty rest. Having a good skincare regimen is the first step to a flawless face.

Prime and Set

Primer is a key to foundation working properly. If you don’t apply a primer your foundation will seep right into your pores or just wipe right off. I love using a mattifying primer that works will all skin types whether you are oily, combo or dry. After applying your foundation, you’ll need to set it with either a setting spray or a setting powder. This is also key! If you don’t prime and set, don’t expect much out of your foundation. The three products work together to create a twelve hour wear.

Switching to Spray Foundation

When spray foundation released I honestly didn’t know what to think. I was perplexed! I gave it a shot and wow! I will never turn back. In fact, it’s one of the products my friends and family grab from my beauty store the most often. You simply apply it with a kabuki brush for full coverage. This stuff even covers scars and tattoos and it’s air thin!

Using Powder and Concealer

Another trick is to use powders and concealers as your contour. You can apply concealer two shades lighter to created a highlight on your face over your foundation. Blend with a damp blending bud. Then, use a pressed powder two shades darker for your bronzer and contour. I find this combination has better staying power and creates a beautiful, natural look.

Using products that are made to help not hurt your skin allows your makeup to be a good thing. Right now there’s a huge sale and you can save 33% off when you grab primer, setting product, foundation, concealer and the kabuki brush! You won’t want to miss this deal! It only releases once a year! All of the products in today’s post are cruelty-free and non-toxic.
