Houston Hotspots: Dish Society

About a week ago after an amazing yoga class in Cinco Ranch with Lauren at Lifetime Fitness, I headed over to discover Dish Society. I was killing time before I had to pick up my daughter from her weekend getaway to her Aunt’s house and I quickly looked up healthy places to eat on my cell. Being that I had just finished a pretty intense class I didn’t want to undo all of the progress I just made and stumbled upon Dish Society in Katy, TX. I decided after ordering (it’s quick service day time and at night full service) I sat down at the bar since the restaurant was packed. I planned on getting some work done and it was chilly outside or I would have opted for the patio.

Let me start this post off by saying that their service is unprecedented. I was checked on consistently to make sure my food was delivered and tasty without being hassled. I started off with a tall glass of their green society juice to replenish all of the vitamins in my body after working out and a cup of coffee. Their green juice is a combination of spinach, kale, apple, cucumber, lemon and ginger. I’m pretty sure I downed it in 60 seconds flat. Almost as soon I started working my stuffed avocado on a bed of organic greens and citrus tossed quinoa arrived. I was so hungry being this was the first meal of the day and this hit the spot! I couldn’t even finish it! After tasting my first experience with Dish Society I knew I must return.

So now let’s fast forward to yesterday. I arrived to experience their delicious breakfast and lunch. They have four different menus to include breakfast, brunch (on weekends), lunch and dinner. They also serve handcrafted cocktails and source as much of their ingredients from local farmers as possible. Extra points scored for organic produce! Houston’s selection of healthy organic restaurants is quickly growing and Dish Society is a casual eatery leading the way. They have locations downtown, in the Heights, the Galleria, near memorial city mall and in Katy.

I’d recommend if you are visiting to start off by ordering a delicious rainbow salad filled with pickled onions, broccoli and butternut squash. I seriously couldn’t get enough of this one! I loved how each dish prepared was curated with such an attention to detail and the presentation was perfection. The portions are an excellent size and couldn’t easily be split between two meals. They also brought out the southwestern egg scramble with cage free eggs, black beans and a roasted corn pico. Southwest flavors are a hit around Texas for breakfast and this dish was hearty yet filled with so many nutrients.

The cobb salad is a perfect order for lunch. They layer a soft boiled egg, iceberg lettuce, blue cheese and then toss with a bacon vinaigrette! Didn’t even know a bacon vinaigrette existed in this world. Talk about a game changer. If you are in the mood for a delicious sandwich try for a pesto chicken sandwich served with homemade potato chips. The cage free chicken is served with a Texas pecan basil pesto and goat cheese served on delicious pretzel bread.

The other thing I loved about coming here is the atmosphere. Being an Interior Design major and lover of all things aesthetically pleasing a restaurant that has a great atmosphere, delicious food and is healthy is the trifecta of goodness in my book. You can sit on their lovely patio with pops of yellow bar stools and umbrellas on a lovely day or inside at the bar overlooking the kitchen, a big yellow booth or at one of the tables. The natural sunlight flooded the interior making it easy to get work done while chomping down on some grub.

If you are heading out this weekend for brunch I cannot recommend the Gal Meets Glam collection for a brunch worthy dress. I wore the Eleanor dress (still available!) on the Gal Meets Glam shop and Nordstrom Rack! Only a few sizes are available but if you stop by an actual Nordstrom Rack storefront you might be able to score other ones. The best part is this dress is on sale for under $100! I went full on girly with this dress. The fabric is just too pretty and it’s lined! I can’t tell you how much I love the fabric. You couldn’t see through it and there was so much movement in the skirt as I walked. Seriously received a bunch of compliments throughout the day on this look.

I added a pair of bow embellished heels last seen in this post and a suede rose colored headband. Since I’m petite I felt like adding a bold purse would be too much so I wore a blush colored satchel in the same hues as my dress and shoes. Our weather yesterday was much warmer than expected otherwise I would have layered a black trench coat and fur stole for a little Winter glam! Julia is a genius when it comes to details, fit and fabric. I have the utmost respect for her work and am so glad I made the plunge and purchased one of her exquisite dresses. I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite ones from her collection to share with you guys!

A few of dresses that are similar include the Krista with puffy sleeves, the Alison dress with a sweet little peter pan like collar, and the Lydia dress with a beautiful faux wrap bodice. I’m really drooling over her newest collection for January and have my eye on the light blue Daisy shirt dress! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend and get out to enjoy a few activities like brunch, shopping at a local market or getting a long walk in!
