Houston Hotspots: The Whimsy World Part 3

Being an art lover and painter myself I was incredibly inspired by Shelbi Nicole’s colorful exhibit on display at The Art District Gallery right outside of downtown Houston. Painting, drawing and creating has been a part of me since I can remember. I’m constantly on the hunt for murals around the city (and world) to share with you all as a background for fashion looks. This is the third and final post on The Whimsy World (read part 1 and part 2 for more information and other parts of this exhibit). Note:; The exhibit is on display through the end of this month so if you want to attend you need to get tickets ASAP (you can do so here).

I mentioned in a previous post about the Beyonce inspired bathroom. I had to share this mirror selfie with the words “I woke up like this” for you all. Every inch of the space is covered in art around the exhibit including the bathroom/dressing room. If you are an influencer, photographer or blogger this is a perfect place for a quick outfit change! The walls are lined in black and white wallpaper complete with images of Beyonce. What a special touch! So often, bathrooms and dressing areas are overlooked within spaces whether it be an exhibit or even a restaurant bathroom. Well, look no further! This bathroom is full of glamour inspired images and quotes that will surely inspire a feeling of fabulous as soon as you walk in.

My only regret was not making it to the exhibit before Valentine’s Day to share today’s post with you. However, the outfit I have on today is an easy one to recreate. I wore a simple split flutter sleeve dress from Cotton On (an staple brand in my closet). The dress is made out of a jersey knit and looks great dressed up or down. I found this version with longer sleeves on sale for $60 if you are in the market for a cute red dress.Y ou can swap out the heels for a pair of ballet flats for a casual look. Although I cannot find this one online (even though it was purchased last month) I have rounded up a few more options for you guys in the Shop the Post feature located above and at the bottom of today’s post.

Since this is an art exhibit I felt a beret was the only appropriate hat choice. Berets immediately rouse a french feeling and are more versatile than you may think. You can see a few other beret inspired looks here, here and here - dressed up for the office, dressed down to play or just a simple weekend look. To keep my outfit from looking to holiday like I added white accessories to transition from Winter to Spring. White pumps, earrings and bags are also staples in my closet. When you add white to a bold color like red, pink or blue it helps the colors really pop! Don’t put those red items away yet! You can easily wear them all Spring and Summer long if you pair them with lighter colors.

What is your favorite way to wear red in the Spring?
